Discovery
Andrasio, the First Potency and Potency of Chaos, taught the foundations of the Potencies' languages after manifesting on Markazevren. Without that instruction, Wizardry may never have been independently discovered.
Rosmer CreativeThe sixty intrinsic natures of existence can be addressed through exact languages of sound, sign, inscription and movement.
Wizardry is the fundamental magic of the Potencies. Sixty schools exist—one for each Potency—and each develops a language capable of addressing one of the intrinsic properties of being.
Andrasio, the First Potency and Potency of Chaos, taught the foundations of the Potencies' languages after manifesting on Markazevren. Without that instruction, Wizardry may never have been independently discovered.
Wizardry can be spoken, written, signed, danced or enacted through formal movement. Its language resembles mathematics: logical, systematic and generative once the foundations are known.
Wizardry draws from a Potency already present in the surrounding world. Beyond ordinary physical and mental stamina, it does not intrinsically consume emotion, life force or elemental balance.
Powerful workings take longer. A complex sequence may require hours or days and can be broken by silence, restraint, distraction, exhaustion, intoxication, damaged inscriptions or interrupted movement.
Instruments, wands, staffs, masks, robes and hats are often functional rather than decorative: they create exact sounds, shapes, shadows, movements and silhouettes required by a working.
Multiple wizards can maintain one continuous sequence, rotating through its chants, movements and inscriptions. This allows workings far longer and more powerful than any individual could sustain.
Wizardry requires years or decades of study. Its schools are prestigious, politically important and intensely secretive, guarding their proofs, archives and linguistic discoveries.
